We Nationals (former Expos) fans sure do miss Cliff (and Brandon Phillips, and Grady Sizemore; and hope Bartolo Colon has rickets).

I'm rooting for both teams to lose. Kind of like a double knockout in boxing.

What is the weather like for tonight's game? I don't have as confident of a feeling for Pedro tonight as I have previously. I hope that if he gets beat then he got beat by the Yankees hitting some of his best stuff. Just make good pitches. I hope you're right about Hamels too.

6 or 7 innings, 4 runs or less. Thats all we need from Pedro.

If we get held to less than 4 we deserve to lose anyway with this lineup.

Heart of the order not even making contact with the ball -- minus Werth. Fail. Sickening.

I am completely agnostic on this, but I do want to see 7 games.

Not looking good for the Phils. This was a must win game. You can't like the Blanton v. Sabathia match-up tomorrow. This leaves them Lee to send it back to New York to face Pedro and Hamels, potentially down 3-2.

we're playing "OK", but not great. I'm at peace with all of this. We need to win three of the last four.

It's like I was telling my wife last night.....the 'magic' isn't there. We don't look like "the" team this year. The good news: last year relieved SOOOO much pressure, this year it would be "a loss", but not as huge of a disappointment as it would have been without...

....2008.

2008, sure was great.

But it's not over. And I believe friend. I believe.

We win one game and it's tied and it all starts again.

Finished it on DVR this morning. Glad I didn't stay up.

Hamels is terrible this year. Philly writers are calling for this to be his last start. I have to agree. He needs to go "unf--k himself" in the offseason and figure out how he can challenge Cliff Lee as a genuine number 1.

Things don't look great, but we're not being dominated. We need better pitching.

Hoping that Blanton will deliver the goods against the Yankees is an exercise in practicing optimism.

Of course, it's more likely that he'll come through than Hamels will.

I just finished making a nice dinner of meatloaf, light pasta and green beans. I don't feel like eating now.

2008, sure was great.

I am thankful and will never, ever, forget. If the Yankees seal the deal it will only sweeten the memory of last year.

Re: October Baseball -- Let's go Phillies!!! [JerseyQuaker] [In reply to] Can't Post

I think we'll be back next year (which goes to show how far I've come as a Philadelphia sports fan) and we'll win in the rematch. And we can take solace in the fact that while we love our team and our players, Yankees fans cannot say the same thing. How could they? Though, that doesn't really make me feel better.

But this season was just icing and I'm still full from the 2008 cake.

fuck.

1) If we were going to lose because of our bullpen, i'd have rather gotten that out of the way earlier in the series...
2) anyone notice that no one on the Yankees has A-Rod's back? they must just hate him.

1. Tonight it is Lee (I-can-catch-behind-my-back) pitching so there IS hope

2. Do ya think A-Rod getting hit by pitches 3x is coincidence

I will definitely be a Phillies fan tonight. I'm not ready for this series to end.

Regarding A-Rod and the hits.
The folks said you do not settle things during World Series. I would agree with that. that being said they (Phillies) maybe wanted to put some pressure on A-Rod going "way inside" with some potential unfortunate hits.

Harry Kalas would not have given up on this team, and nobody else should be either!

no. nor is it coincidence that his teammates don't stand up for him.
i'm sure his teammates were glad when he hit the double. i bet they were glad when he got hit by the pitch, too.

I'm not giving up. It is entirely possible for a professional baseball team to win three games in a row. Not likely, but certainly within the realm of possibility.

I don't have a problem with the way we lost last night. We just lack timely hits with runners on base. That is quite simply the difference in the series. Blanton pitched just fine.

I believe we are going to win tonight.

We'll know as soon as the first Phillie steps up to the plate with 2 outs and nobody on how Burnett and the Yankees feel about A-Rod. If Rollins and Victorino don't get on base in the first, Utley will be hit.

JQ, I haven't given up on the Phils, but they have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. It doesn't look good.

False.

You don't retaliate in the World Series, every batter and out is too important. You do it next year, spring training or inter-league play.

No one will get hit as retribution.
