McCain is going to "battle big oil"? Can't Post

It's in the new "Broken" commercial at http://www.johnmccain.com/. What does that mean?

It is such a blatant lie its not even funny.

There's already been press about Hess Oil employees' rather large donations to him and the RNC just a week before he reversed his stance on offshore drilling. Look up some of the allegations of money-laundering, they're fascinating. Evidently, one of the Hess employees donated both the full $2300 and $28500 to McCain and the RNC, as did her husband. She is an office manager for Hess. Her husband is a track foreman for Amtrak. They rent their home in Flushing, Queens. They've donated to a political campaign, much less a political party. Yet they donated $61600 of non-deductible funds to McCain, or unless I'm mistaken, about $100k of pre-tax earnings to McCain/RNC. Gee, that's not suspicious at all, is it?

I sure hope you're right.....because, for the life of me, I can't think of much with respect to "Big Oil" that needs "battling"!

Yes, I'm thinking that part of the McCain commercial is indeed a big fat lie.

I say "Bullshit!" when they say they are going to battle Big Oil. McCain has received over $1 Million dollars from the Oil and Gas Industry in 2008. He is the number one Senator on the list. Obama is #4 at about $345K.

How does he support the other claims about being the only one to take on those other industries?

If we can find a silver lining, at least this particular ad doesn't lie about Obama.

Did you see how McCain is now paying people to post positive stuff on blogs and forums? Someone called it the "Frequent Liar" program.

Certainly you're not referring to the silly "points" thing!?

Hey. Free stuff is free stuff right?

;-)

Less than 3 months 'till election day and I have yet to see a pro-McCain bumper sticker or yard sign here in seriously red North Carolina. Even the trucks with Bush/Cheney and "W the President" stickers aren't proclaiming their support.

So are you surprised that Exxon has given more money to Obama than McCain?

You should probably examine that methodology - yes, overall, all Exxon employees, including low-level ones, gave more to Obama. However, if you look at the industry overall, its still McCain by 4x.

I really don't understand this hatred of American oil companies. would you be happier if we only got oil from BP or Saudi oil companies?? I'm so happy for them I recently bought shares of XOM.

I'll see if I can find the post, but read a good thing about the whole "transfer of wealth" stuff that people raise.

Buying from foreign oil producers is bad because we're sending them all our money. The retort economically speaking is that this is hooey, as we're trading our money for their oil commensurate with the value we place on the oil. An interesting view.

Tell that particular economist (using the term loosely) to put a $50 bill into his gas tank and see how far it takes him.

I really don't understand some people's reading comprehension. Did I ever say big oil needs battling? What I said was that I was baffled by the statement in McCain's commercial. Why don't you direct you criticism towards him.
