Kwame cannot pass go or collect 200.00...no not the new Piston hire. Can't Post

This is the kind of governance that makes people long for Mayor Coleman Young.

My favortie part of the story is that nobody knows who's in charge of the city because the deputy mayor stepped down to be interim director of the sewer department.

You could make stuff like this up, but nobody would believe it.

Thank goodness I don't live in the city, just the 'hostile' suburbs. How embarrassing.

Only if that included a transfer to

Marion Barry might be available to fill in......

For months now, Governor Granholm and members/sycophants of the Michigan Democratic Party have been stalling on doing anything about Kwame by saying that there is a process and it takes time to get through it. I see on the headlines of the Free Press this morning that Kwame wants to do away with the process and just move this thing right into the trial. Hilarious. There is probably more shit coming down the pike and he wants to get a resolution before it comes out.

Apparently Senator Obama chimed in today saying that "It is a sad day for Detroit." You know, I completely disagree. I think this is the start of something good. The legal system is working and an arrogant punk is getting what he has earned.

This Kwame story is a gift that keeps on giving... unless you live in Detroit.

He's like a 5 year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar, he thinks he can just lie his way out of it.

Granholm and the rest of her cabal in Michigan want to drag it out as long as possible and possibly after the November general election. If she's seen to be coming down on Kwame before then, it could affect Dem chances of holding Michigan for Obama.

We in the downriver areas South of Dee-troit are having a big old laugh over the whole thing. The Kilpatrick saga has been the most interesting thing to come down the pike 'round here in a long time. Better than both brawls at the Palace (Pistons and Shock), better than watching half the city burn up on Devil's Night back in '88 and better than burning up cars downtown when the Tigers win a World Series :-))

Detroit, Michigan and New Orleans, Louisiana. The similarities are mind boggleling. Total lack of intelligent city management, and total hands off attitude from the state capitals. No wonder both cities are such a disaster.

What is super ironic is that Kwame, by most objective accounts, actually has been a decent Mayor once you get past his first 2 or 3 years of his first term. He has cleaned alot of shit up. He has shown vision and leadership. He's gotten stuff done. All of the stuff that is going on now is the fall-out of the first 2 or 3 years when he wanted to be known as "the Hip-Hop Mayor."

His arrogance is the most amazing thing to watch. You would think that he would show a little humility.

My wife, who's been there (as have I, although I slung a weapon while she got to do the "heal the sick" thing) calls Detroit (she was born and raised in rural Ohio) "the Mogadishu of North America." It's not so much due to its physical decay (which has actually been improving under the Kilpatrick hegemony ;-) but to the stunning venality, incompetence and corruption at almost every level in its government, such as it exists.

What's interesting, I suppose, is none of that comes out at the national level, at least from where I am sitting. All I've heard about Detroit is its incompetence at the managerial level and decay at the street level.

We need some genetic manipulating genius to creat a super race that is capable of getting elected and doing good things while at the same time, not having the adrenaline of being elected and doing good things affect their ego and sense of balance. Wouldn't that just solve so many problems on so many levels? Doesn't that sound like a disaster on so many other levels?

Well, that is true. I guess what I am saying is that in the last 3 years (not including the 2008 which has been mired in this stuff) Kwame has been a rather effective leader. He has brought some major events to the City and has overseen some that were already on tap. He has befriended private industry and let them do their thing. Detroit from a National perspective is not the great city, but Detroit also gets painted that way to some extent and the media loves to do it. It is a reputation that unfortunately has been earned.

Yes.
