Just Another Ordinary Honor Killing by a Follower of Islam Can't Post

But hey, let's not jump to conclusions as to what is behind this "trajedy."

Geeta Aulakh left to die with hand cut off after ambush on her way to pick up kids

By Matt Blake and Jon Clements 18/11/2009
A mum of two was left to die on a pavement by brutes who battered her and hacked off one hand.

Geeta Aulakh, 28, was ambushed as she walked from her workplace to collect her two sons from a childminder in Greenford, West London. She died in hospital.
Her estranged husband was among six men arrested yesterday.

One of Geeta's workmates told yesterday how they strolled along chatting just minutes before the mum of two was ambushed by killers who hacked off her hand and left her dying in the street.

Shocked Seema Sidha, 31, had left the offices of Sunrise Radio with Geeta and walked part of the way home with her.
Seema said: “I was with her. We walked together before I caught the train.

“She said she was going to pick her children up from the childminder’s. That is the last time I saw her, about 6.30pm.
“That was her normal routine. She would drop her kids off in the morning and pick them up after work.

“This has been a terrible shock. Why would someone do this to her? She was my friend. I wish I’d stayed with her.”
Just before 7.30pm on Monday, 28-year-old Geeta was found by a passer-by.

She lay a few yards from the house in Greenford, West London, where a childminder was looking after her boys, aged eight and nine.
She had been beaten and one of her hands was chopped off.

Geeta, who is estranged from her husband, died in hospital hours later from head wounds, it is believed.

Seema said she and other colleagues were horrified by the murder and mutilation of Geeta, a receptionist at the community radio station in Southall.

She added: “”It is something you never expect. An absolute shock. Geeta was a happy person, always smiling.” When Geeta was late to collect her children, childminder Safeen Arif tried to phone and text her. She did not suspect anything was wrong until police officers arrived at her home.

British-born Geeta is thought to have split from her Indian husband Harpreet. He was one of six men arrested yesterday.

Harpreet lives in the area and recently returned from a cousin’s wedding in India.

Radio news producer Seema, 31, said: “She was separated from her husband. It was something she didn’t talk about.”

Passers-by tried to tend Geeta’s wounds as they waited for an ambulance. She was taken to Charing Cross Hospital and declared dead at 11.20pm.
Her distraught mother Mrs Shinh said: “We cannot come to terms with what has happened. We are too upset to speak.”

Another Sunshine worker said: “This morning we found out and we are all totally shocked. The whole building is in shock. She was a normal woman. A jolly woman who did not get angry and did not have anything bad about her.

“I keep walking into the office and expecting to see her sitting there.”

Police believe Geeta may have been attacked elsewhere and dumped on the pavement in Braund Avenue.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers appealed for witnesses.

He said: “When the victim was found, we know that a lot of people were in the street and that several people may have tried to administer first aid before the police or ambulance arrived.

“These people left the scene before speaking to police and I would ask that anyone who was there, or anyone else who has information, to call us.”

Hindu or Sikh

Edited: a little googling the victim's last name and it looks like they're Hindu.

you know chainpin I have hopes that you are going to make the next logical leap here

obviously you grasp that certain supernaturally based, irrational, cultural concepts can make the world a much worse place.

militant islam is one of those things, no doubt. theres more, keep adding to the list, I'm on board for this. Let us get rid of the practice of using mythology to frame our ethics and decisions.

You may want to look up hand hacking and see how it applies here.

Oh and most "white guys" dont do it based on religion/society. You see he beleives he has a RIGHT to do it and theres nothing wrong with it. Women are sub-human to them.

an interesting question is does the religion encourage the act to happen more often or does it just change the rationalization?

one thing is for sure, in some of those countries the religion allows you to do it without legal repercussions. that is a definitively evil result.

an interesting question is does the religion encourage the act to happen more often or does it just change the rationalization?

It's not just religion, it's any environment in which the "Values" are skewed. You could very well see the same results coming from a child that was raised in a non religious home with an abusive husband. The end result is a lessened "Value" on the life of the women and following rationalization that killing or abusing a women is somehow "Not as bad" as doing so to a male.

You can or could apply this to just about any "Value" or situation. In fact there are many psychology studies that show this type of environmental reaction in action.

Any "indoctrination" or environment can lead to this "Devaluing" including school, church, home, work whatever and we have PLENTY of it right here in the US on many different levels.

one thing is for sure, in some of those countries the religion allows you to do it without legal repercussions. that is a definitively evil result.

Clearly the stronger the pressure to devalue something the worse the result. At the point that something becomes not only "Acceptable" but even "Honored" there is nothing to stop it from happening.

Looks like you are the only one 'jumping to conclusions'!

You make yourself out to be such a smart guy; how come you didnt realize that the picture of the victim showed her 'sporting' a bindi or a tilaka? That definitely identifies her as a Hindu.

at least you make me laugh. :)

I just assumed she was Muslim, you know cause they are really into that be-heading stuff, chopping off hands, and the sport of honor killing.

Honest mistake.

Never mind that she's from India, where most people are Hindu, she has a Hindu name, and she's wearing traditional Hindu dress in the picture. Nah, you're not propagating the stereotype of the 'ignorant of everything beyond their own borders american' at ALL.

What culture were you thinking of where angry husbands DON'T murder their wives? I guess in the good ol' USA you can just put a bullet between her eyes, right? Much more civilized.

Either that, or you could run them down with a car--it's messy, but effective.

And, in that particular case it was a daughter that was the victim of an honor killing by her father, and yes, right here in the in the "good ol' USA" as you call it.

I think in this particular case I was thrown by the fact that the woman's hand was cut off, which is odd since I probably shouldn't associate such an act with Muslims and the Koran.

Oh, wait, scratch that, silly me, it is in the Koran.

As they say in the land of the free, my bad.
