I blame the volcanos, even if the scientists don't.

"If we had a few cold years in a row, we could put sort of a temporary damper on it, but I think at this point going to an ice-free Arctic Ocean is inevitable," he said. "I don't think we can stop that now."

Oh well, since there is nothing we can do; I think I will continue to drive my Dodge Ram and turn my AC down to 65! I guess I could turn off my pool heater since the water is a nice comfortable temp now.

Yay! A low(er) cost and reduced carbon shipping route to Europe! See, there ARE benefits to this Global Melting Thing.

Apparently it is very difficult to understand this so I will try one more time. Many many of your supposed deniers aren't denying shit. They freely admit that there is some GW going on. The biggest points of contention is a) is it caused by humans and b) even if it is, can humans do anything to change the situation.

But its alot easier for you to paint the picture of anybody that doesn't believe in manmade GW as being a total denier. Also alot easier to ignore that fact that temps are rising of Mars as well as earth. To consider ALL the facts would be "inconvenient".

No its very easy to undestand Locke I fully comprehend who these people are and what motivates them; they are either dumb as shit, living in denial, or selfish pricks who really don't give a damn what sort of mess we leave our kids so long as they get to have fun in their V-10s.

Your paint brush just gets bigger and more broad.

Is it hard being all knowing? I would assume it would get very frustrating trying to educate the rest of us all the time. Fortunately I am a stupid, selfish denier of common knowledge so I don't have to deal with such high and mighty things.

All knowing? who said anythign about all knowing?

If you dont know about man made global warming its ramifications and what you can do to help stop it you've either been living in a cave or you fall into the dumb as shit category....and for the record, it does get frustrating trying to educate those people.

The esteemed scientist in the article you posted said there is nothing we can do to help stop it. Since there is nothing we can do, why should we inconvience ourselves trying to stop the enevitalbe?

Have you ever seen the movie Idocracy? This thread tends to remind me of it, and right now everyone is pointing and laughing at you because you sound gay.

(If you don't get the reference, all the idiots laughed at the non-idiot because his articulate way of speaking sounded gay to them).

So since you are in the market for getting an SUV, are you living in a cave or dumb as shit?
But wait it's a hybrid SUV, so instead of getting piss-poor gas mileage it only gets poor gas mileage so its ok.

Why are you polluting my planet Matt? Let me guess do as I say, not as I do.

Well, I already qouted the esteemed scientist from the article, but I guess I will have to do it again:

"If we had a few cold years in a row, we could put sort of a temporary damper on it, but I think at this point going to an ice-free Arctic Ocean is inevitable," he said. "I don't think we can stop that now."

Why should I read the article again? It seems that the esteemed scientist is pretty clear about the enevitability of this.

You should read the article again for two reasons.

1. Your response to Matt was in regard to global warming, this scientist was talking about the Arctic going ice free.

2. If you read the article again you might notice that immediately after the passage you quoted above was this part:

Reduced greenhouse gas emissions could "cool things down a bit," he said.
"It would recover fairly quickly, but it's just not going to happen for a while," he said. "I think we're committed at this point."

1. Isn't global warming the culprit for the Artic going ice free?

2. You do understand what the words ''could'' and ''committed'' mean don't you? Additionally, the phrase ''not going to happen for a while'' pretty much dispels his earlier contention that ''it would recover fairly quickly'' comment.

Only if you're a drunkard. Are you?

31,000 American scientists signed a petition to the president and the Congress, recently, advising them to not fall for largely-unsettled science that's being used by eco-fabulists to push an agenda designed to hamstring our economy and that will also most likely lead to a lowering of our collective standard of living.

Re: For those still living in global warming denial [Bruce Wayne] [In reply to] Can't Post

Let me see if I can help.

We can't do anything about the arctic ice melting and the N Pole ending up "iceless". This does not mean that we can't do anything to turn that trend around and EVENTUALLY getting the ice back...I mean if you want ice there.

Instead of reading it as "There is nothing we can do...period" I believe the intent was "There is nothing we can do in the short term to stop this one thing from happening. but in the long term we can still turn it around"
