DHA/EPA Can't Post
Do you give your kids DHA/EPA supplements? We're not big fish eaters, so we have been giving them the supplements for a while.

The issue is, what is right, what is wrong, what is the proper dosage? I believe this is the right thing to do, but every bottle of childrens DHA or Omega 3-6-9 has different weights of the DHA/EPC or Omega values.

Finding unbiased information on this hasn't been easy. The Gov's website hasn't turned up much yet.

We're a vegetarian/nearly vegan family and recently started giving DHA pills to our 21-month old and my wife takes her own DHA pills so our 2-month old gets it via her milk. Dosage was whatever the doctor recommended, which was likely based on the manufacturer recommendations of the brand she recommended. Just make sure you're getting a reputable brand. We're using Nordic Naturals.

Semi-hijack, we are curious as to the consensus of the plant-based DHA, whether it is effective or not.

Yes that is problematic, isn't it? This is one of those completely unregulated things in that industry as far as supplements go.

The one thing I know for certain is that if you are using the cod liver oil supplements, make sure that they are mercury free.

Check out Barry Sears ( The zone diet guy) website drsears.com...I think..they have a forum there Im sure you could get some feedback there.
