Lots of different options on the internet. Anyone do anything that works that they would recommend?

i've had myself plenty of chipotle burrittos, and I have to believe they are the culprit rather than the cure.

My experience is that you can basically plot the effectiveness of colon cleanses on a line … the more serious the plan the better the results. I’ve seen some products that you can get from GNC that allow you to still eat anything; but, I think these are basically worthless. The Arise and Shine product lasts for 28 days. 21 days on a regimented diet (2 meals/day of only fruits/vegetables + Arise and Shine products) and a fast for the final 7 days (only Arise and Shine Products). So, it depends on what you’re willing to give to the process. I did the Arise and Shine and lasted 20 days (I never got to the fast). Even without the fast, I think it was a huge net positive and I would recommend it, with certain caveats … it’s a serious endeavor and you should learn as much about it beforehand to inure the biggest benefit for your effort.

Don't do it. It's a fraud. If you do a colon cleanse you might as well get a spiritual healer to remove the bad spirits from you penis.

I looked at that and thought it said "Arse and Shine"...better name for a colon cleansing company if you ask me.

Are you looking for something to drink or more of a "procedure?"
I had some serious GI discomfort last year and went to the Tummy Temple in Seattle for a colonic. It was interesting... and I did feel better afterwards. They also have some products, digestive enzeymes and such that you can purchase.
Good luck.

Of all the threads I though would go downhill quickly, the responses have been kind of tame....You beat me to the burrito cure though :-)
For me, 2 servings of Trader Joe's Soy and Flakseed Tortilla Chips and a half a jar of salsa.

Mr. Tibbs, even though I disagree with you, I'll grant that you might be right about the witch doctor science behind it. Yet, even granting your point, I still think it is a net positive. Before the cleanse, I used to eat like crap, but doing something so drastic really gave me the momentum I needed to change my eating habits, to which I’m still inuring the benefit, even after ten years. I believe there are good religious reasons to fast, but that’s a different thread. Yet, I believe that there are good science reasons to fasting. We put so much crap into our faces. It’s good to give your colon a break—notwithstanding the admittedly controversial cleanse science to actively cleaning it out. Plus, it was just plan incredible to see the “output” as a result of the cleanse. Plus, the sheer exercise in will power was a benefit. Therefore, if you’re looking for something that might seem a little crazy with a big--albeit controversial--upside, then do I recommend it. You’ll be able to tell stories about it for years … great dinner conversation. If you’re otherwise feeling fine and looking to do something merely for which there is great evidence for, then I agree with Tibsy and this might not be for you.

Didn't JOhn Wayne have something like 70lbs of undigested meat in his colon when he died??? or is that tight up there in the urban myth world with the undigested hamster in Richard Gere's colon?

As far as fasting goes I am a strong believer in it. I fast sometimes and know how well can work for your head and spirit.
My issue is the whole stupid idea that you rinse out your ass because it builds up. It's just not true. I won't argue how it makes you feel since you are you and I will not argue that you TriFloyd found a mental benfit. It's just that any physical benefit is garbage.
Think about it. Some shoves a hose up your ass shoots water up there and rinse out what was already going to come out. Unlike you many people don't change their diet after it and the people who do it sure as hell don't want you too because once your body starts getting the good stuff and all your problems go away you won't pay them to rinse you out.
Excerise and a good diet will do far more then a colon cleanse. It's just new age snake oil.

i used something called Oxy-Power, you used it for 7 days, 10 pills a day for 7 days. You take the 10 pills before you go to bed. You go potty about 4-5 times a day. After the 7 days you then take 10 pills once a week.. Did it clean my colon?? i don't know but it sure felt like i did, i did loose weight. Everything i ate came out of me with a hour during the day, the 10 pills would wear off by 6pm. I assume the product did what it said it was going to do. I doubt you need anything like this, but i did try it and i did go to the bathroom a lot. good luck!

Ummm, I'm gonna take Option B ... the GNC scam.

I'm gonna agree with this. If I can't get something clean by "scrubbing" it in the shower, then it probably isn't meant to sparkle.
-------------------------------
I'm not sure how I feel about intentional fasting, while half the world is starving. But, I am curiius about the religious practicing aspects of it.

Lots of people do it to lose weight and if you do the one I did then you’ll likely lose weight … I lost 19 lbs. and I was already pretty slender (before: 6’6”, 198), but that’s not THE reason you’re supposed to do it. The real reason is—in a nutshell—to clean out your colon from all the bad stuff that’s in there. Basically, your colon is very long and we (most humans) eat things that generally take longer for our bodies to digest than what is good for the colon. Compare your diet to carnivorous animals that eat meat (raw) and have very short colons and very acidic internal systems; whereas, people eat cooked meat (sometimes three times/day) and have very long colons. Observe that colon cancer is one of the leading kinds of cancer in men. Cancer is basically an ailment of things rotting inside us and the body’s inability to get rid of things faster than the bad things multiplying. If you eat things that promote this bad process (i.e., cooked meat sometimes multiple times in one day) and that take a long time for your body to digest, then things likely are congested in there. When things are congested, they start to rot. A good colon cleanse: 1) gives your colon a break by only eating raw fruits and vegetables for some duration; and 2) eating certain supplements that are supposed to aid in breaking down the bad stuff that currently resides in your colon. Again, the science behind #2 is debatable. Yet, it was reasonable enough in my mind that it was worth doing. There’s rumors abroad that triathletes sometimes do crazy things (e.g., Iron-distance races) that some people find a little extreme. I would put a colon cleanse in the same category. For me, triathlons are not just about the exercise, there are lots of peripheral benefits, even if the science behind those benefits are somewhat debatable … the overall beneficial life experiences of the triathlons are not.

While a diet heavy in meat can increase the risk of colon cancer, your proposed mechanism is way off. A colonic will not decrease colon cancer risk.
