A fond farewell Can't Post

And so today marks the time when I must respectfully walk away from the timesuck known as the Lavender Room. I must thank you all for spirited debates, for raising my awareness and yes, in some cases changing my perceptions.

I don't know how long I have been around, but its been a while and its been fun. My reasons are pretty simple. Too many outside things. I am training for what will likely be my last IM for several years, work is busier than ever and my wife and I are hoping to add a little liberal lion to the den soon.

I wish the world was filled with people as intelligent and passionate as the members of this board (a healthy balance of course, we can't have too many big kahuna's!), but its good to find this many among us at least.

If I have offended you in anyway over the years, I apologize. People are pretty thick skinned on here, so I doubt little ole me did anything too bad. That being said, you would all be welcome in my home at anytime, yes that includes Record10Carbon and chainpin.

Special thanks to the following peeps for making my time here more enjoyable, whether you realized it or not:

Good luck with whatever you venture into.

We all need a break now and then and I for one hope to see you back on occasion, if for no other reason than to say hi.

Does Paulo know where to find you?

Good luck with all your ventures and your newfound spare time.

Best wishes.

It's odd how few people understand that the best ideas and the highest levels of enlightenment come from spirited debate and the sharing of ideas and thoughts.

If you are going to leave then leave already.

Stop responding to your stupid farewell thread.

How come I'm always the one singled out as being "passionate?" ;-) Just because the brilliance and undoubted 100% accuracy of my prognostications puts most of the plebeians here in the LR who are whiling away their pitiful lives (until something better comes along) to shame is no reason to hie. I carried on a very "involved" life here back in 2008 ("involved" is an understatement, especially during the presidential campaign) and was able to run an airline and train for an IM (and do fine at it) while also being a dutiful husband. It can be done, cheechako. You just gotta work at it. So baby...please don't go.

I think we let Vitus and the others make their farewells without a "Get the f*#k outta here" rejoinder, and though I may disagree with many of my friends here in the LR who sit on the left (wrong ;-) side of things, I miss every single one of them badly when they leave (even the Lorax). Without vigorous debate, what good is conversation? Also, without it, why would anybody want to just sit in an echo chamber? To be comforted by the sound of their voice?

Me personally, he's one of the guys I'm going to really miss. And he said a ton of smart things. And I really, REALLY loved to argue with him :-)

He's amazingly disciplined, by the way. I predict he, Monk, Vitus et al are going to be starting up their own politics website which will have a room ten go-zillion times better'n this one. Know how I know it'll be better? There won't be a way for folks like me to participate in it ;-)

I'll miss your posts - you made a lot of intelligent and well-reasoned arguments.

Best of luck with the family and other ventures.
