Got Clearwater spot - now need tri bike
Can't Post
I have size 54 Trek 5200 road bike, but now I need a tri bike for Clearwater.
Prefer to rent.
Zipps and DA preferred.

Renting wheels should be easy, but you might have an issue renting a bike. I have a 54cm Felt DA ('04 model that was purchased new in '06) that I was planning on selling after IMAZ in Nov but would entertain selling earlier. Tom

You don't need a tri bike for clearwater...

How much for the Felt?
Lazy Ben - you say I don't need tri bike for Clearwater. Are you being picky re the use of word "need"? Sure I don't "need" a tri bike, but you must agree that it would be much faster than a road bike - a friend reports a 7% difference on flat course. I love my road bike and it has served me well on hilly courses like LP and Muskoka - but on a flat course like Clearwater the tri bike would be far superior. Aero helmet also.

Sorry it took me a while to respond, was travelling. Thinking about $500 for frame (incl fork and seatpost) plus dura ace crankset, ultegra brakes and front and rear derailleur (all bought new last year, except for the frame as previously noted). Thanks.

Just a note about fit. I have a 52cm Trek 5500 road bike but my Felt B2 tri bike is a 50cm. Both are well fitted to me.
Also have to agree that your Trek would work fine for Clearwater. All you need are a pair of mini aero bars plus race wheels. I used to race tris with my Trek years ago and had pretty fast bike times.

You'll be safer on a road bike at clearwater. You'll have to be very fast or very slow to get any clear air and get much use out of any sort of aerobar. There are about a zillion threads and pictures out there if you need to validate...
